Chicago’s Premier Headlight Restoration Experts

Restore your headlights for improved visibility and aesthetics

Don’t Drive Around Chicago with Foggy Headlights

Are your headlights looking foggy, hazy, or yellowed? This common issue happens when the clear coat on your lens begins to deteriorate. Not only does it impact your vehicle’s appearance, but it can also significantly reduce visibility at night or during Chicago’s bad weather.

If you’re preparing to sell your car or just want to refresh its look, restoring your headlights is a simple way to make your vehicle look newer.

The good news? Most headlights can be restored to a like-new condition without needing a full replacement. Considering that new headlights can cost hundreds (or even thousands) of dollars depending on your make and model. A proper headlight restoration is a cost-effective solution.

The Professional Headlight Restoration Process

Our process is designed to deliver exceptional results. We use a combination of wet-sanding, polishing, and coating to restore your headlights to a like-new condition. Every pair of headlights is unique. Some may require more intensive wet-sanding, while others may be quicker to restore since they’re not as bad.. Here’s how the process works:

Step 1: First clean and mask off the headlights
We begin by cleaning the headlights with a rinseless wash, claying the surface, and masking off the surrounding paint to prevent any contact with sandpaper. Protecting your vehicle’s finish is a top priority.

Step 2: Begin to sand the headlights
Depending on the condition of the lenses, we use sandpaper ranging from 800 to 3,000 grit. Lower grit levels are more aggressive and help remove heavy grime or deteriorated clear coat, creating a smooth surface for restoration.

Step 3: Time to compound and polish
Next, we use a 3” machine polisher to cut and polish the headlights to restore clarity and shine, leaving the lenses looking like-new.

Step 4: Apply the coating
To maintain the results and protect against future damage, we apply a durable ceramic coating.

This service typically takes 1-2 hours, depending on the condition of your headlights. If needed, we can also restore your fog lights for an additional fee, depending on their material and accessibility.

Want to improve your vehicle’s entire exterior? Ask about our paint correction and ceramic coating services to add gloss, clarity, and long-lasting protection. You car will look better than the day you purchased it!

Headlight Restoration FAQ

Can you restore headlights with cracks or scratches in them?
Yes, we can often restore headlights with cracks or scratches, but it depends on the severity. Some minor scratches may be removed during the sanding process, while deeper cracks or permanent damage to the lens might still be visible after the restoration.

Is it better to restore my headlights or get them replaced?
In most cases, yes! Restoring your headlights is a much more cost-effective option compared to replacing them, especially if new headlights are expensive for your vehicle. Plus, even brand-new headlights will eventually face the same issue over time, as exposure to the sun causes the clear coat to deteriorate. Restoration not only saves you money but also extends the life and clarity of your existing headlights.

Are the headlights cleaned from the outside or inside?
90% of the time, your headlights are worn-out from the exterior. That’s the original clear coat deteriorating. Now, there are times where the inside of the lens has condensation built up. When this happens, at least as us for detailers, we can’t clean inside them. There’s probably a gap or hole somewhere in your headlights that’s letting air, water, or debris inside.
