Chicago’s Premier Ceramic Coating Experts

A ceramic coating adds a durable, high-gloss layer of protection for years

Extreme Gloss and Protection For Your Paint

Give your car a durable, long-lasting protection that produces a high-gloss finish with a ceramic coating. At Mannny’s Detailing, we specialize in prepping and applying coatings to deliver exceptional results that will last for years.
Not only does ceramic coating add incredible depth and shine, but it also creates a hydrophobic surface, making maintenance a breeze. Keep your car looking sleek and glossy with long-lasting protection. Although not always necessary, getting your paint corrected and polished will completely transform the exterior of your vehicle.

Ceramic Coating Makes Cleaning Your Car Easier

Keeping your vehicle cleaner for longer is easier than ever with a high-quality ceramic coating. If you daily drive your vehicle, the coating will make dirt, rain, and road grime struggle to stick, making maintenance a breeze when it comes to washing and drying your vehicle.

Even when debris does land on your paint, they’re far easier to wash away. Ceramic coatings are one of the best ways to safeguard your vehicle’s finish for years, not just months. When properly applied, the coating will help against water spots, bird dropping, road tar, and the dust and dirt accumulation.

Unlike traditional waxes or sealants that sit on the surface and only last a few months, a high-quality coating chemically fuses with your clear coat, creating a durable, long-term shield. This is why they’re able to last for years when maintained properly.

And it’s not just a coating for your paint. There’s different types of coatings for different applications. For instance, you can coat your paint, wheels, glass, leather, and fabric surfaces.

Just like the paint coating, coating other surfaces is meant to create a hydrophobic barrier to repel water, dirt, and grime and make it easier for you to maintain your vehicle. We even apply a ceramic coating after our headlight restoration process.

The Ceramic Coating Process

Before applying the coating, we ensure your vehicle’s exterior is properly prepped.

Our process includes a thorough cleaning of the wheels and tires followed by a hand-wash.

Next we move into cleansing the paint of any stuck on contaminants. This is where we’ll perform a clay bar treatment to make your paint feel like glass. This is a crucial step to complete before we move forward with anything else.

On this same step, we’ll do an iron decontamination step where we dissolve any iron fallout that’s on your paint. The goal of this process with both the clay bar and iron decon is to get the paint and clean as we can.

Now that we’re done with the prep, we can go into the paint correction and polishing step. This will be highly dependent on your specific vehicle, condition, and what you’d like to get done.

For some vehicles, it may only require a light polish to get it up to standard. For other vehicles that are more heavily swirled or have heavy water spots, the paint correction process can take a significantly more amount of time to complete.

That’s why we’ll inspect your car and give you different options based on what you’d like to achieve. We have a tier for every customer based on what they want.

Once the polishing is done, we then prep the paint again by removing any polishing residue. This is important because if we don’t clean the paint again, when it comes to applying the ceramic coating, it won’t bond as well simply due to the polish residue getting in the way.

Next, we diligently apply the ceramic coating to the exterior paint. This is a tedious process that requires a detailed eye. If not done properly, then the coating won’t last as long and won’t provide the beneficial results that it should produce.

Finally, we’ll do any small touchups around the vehicle like dressing the tires, cleaning the glass, or double-checking our work to ensure the results match up to our standard.

Ceramic Coating FAQs

Paint correction isn’t mandatory for every vehicle getting a ceramic coating, but it may be beneficial depending on your car’s paint color and condition. Some colors make imperfections like swirls and scratches more noticeable, which can affect the final look of the coating. In certain cases, we highly recommend paint correction to enhance the overall finish.

It doesn’t require specific brands, but to prolong the benefits of a ceramic coating for as long as you can, using quality detailing products to wash and maintain your vehicle is paramount. Whether you do it yourself or have us take care of it, proper maintenance is key for long-lasting results.

The full curing time for a ceramic coating depends on the type of coating and the weather conditions. Typically, it takes 2 to 3 weeks for the coating to fully cure and bond with the paint. That being said, the vehicle can be driven within 24 to 48 hours after application, but during the curing period, it’s crucial to avoid washing the car, exposing it to harsh chemicals, or letting water sit on the surface for long periods.

Yes, the clay bar process is a part of the prep process before we even polish the paint. This is one of the most important and common things people know when it comes to detailing. This helps remove any stuck dirt on your paint and make it feel smooth like glass. If not done properly, when you start to polish or apply the coating, you’ll get far less inferior results due to having a dirty surface.
